2008/2009 Weekly Oval Rules

1. MOTOR:
Novak 21.5 Part#3421 | Novak 13.5 Part #3413 | Novak 17.5 Part #3417

2. ROTOR: Novak Sintered Rotor Part #5908

3. MOTOR TECH: All motors are subject to visual inspection by track officials at any time, for any reason.

Note: All inductance meters have some variance. It is possible, and very likely, that your meter will read slightly lower or higher than the numbers posted below in the chart. These readings are the low limit. If your motor is reading lower than the results in the chart, you should reinspect your motor further. No single reading should be lower than the numbers in the chart, and all three coils should vary no more than the variance number (The variance number is the maximum difference from the highest reading to the lowest reading).

17.5 – 90 µH (Variance 3.5 µH)
13.5 – 53 µH (Variance 3.0 µH)

Motors inductance tests will be done with the rotor removed and from all three combinations of tabs: AB, AC and BC.

4. ESC's: 17.5 class any Novak or LRP, 13.5 & 21.5 class any Novak, LRP or Tekin RS brushless speed control.

5. BATTERY NMIH: Maximum of 4 cell 4600 mAh.

6. BATTERY LIPO: 3200 mAh hard case SMC batteries Only. Batteries must be charged in a Lipo Sack, no charging or peaking batteries while they are in the car. Battery warming devices are not welcome at Maximus (i.e. heat guns, heating pads, or other devices). Absolutely no over charging, battery can not exceed a Peak Voltage of 8.44 in pre-race tech, Lipo battery voltage will be checked pre-race weekly. All Lipo batteries are required to have a connector (i.e. Deans, Traxxas, EC3, or Banana plug), No hard wiring to the ESC. Lastly, and racer using Lipo has to pit in the the back pit room, no exceptions.

7. BODIES: All bodies must meet the minimum height requirements of 4.25" to the highest part of the bodies roofline. No altering of the roofline may be done (i.e. no dimples etc).

8. WINGS: Wings are legal for the 13.5 & 21.5 classes only.

9. WEIGHTS: 17.5 & 13.5 classes are to weight a minimum of (41oz) with transponder. 21.5 class are to weight a minimum of (38oz) with transponder.

10. WHEEL DOTS:
We do allow wheel dots, unless otherwise instructed by race director during race.

11. QUALIFYING:
During the qualifying races the faster car has the right of way. The Race Director will keep you informed of lap times, positions, as well as let you know if a faster car is behind you. You will be asked to let him/her by. If you fail to give up the preferred line, the Race Director will then instruct the slower driver to give up the preferred line, failure to comply will result in a 1-lap penalty assessed to the driver's best qualifying time.

12. RACE:
Races are 4 minutes long. The Race Director controls the race. In the even that your car is in an accident, let the Corner Marshal pick up your car and replace it on the racing surface. DO NOT DRIVE AGAINST TRAFFIC. The car you save may very well be your own. If your car is broken, the Corner Marshal will hold the car in the infield for the duration of the race. The Corner Marshal is not allowed to repair your car. You are to remain on the Drivers Stand for the duration of the race. Leaving the Drivers Stand will result in a 1-lap penalty on your best qualifier. Your car must finish under it's own power.

13. RACING SURFACE:
All cars can scrub in the tires on the carpet on the outside of the track barrier. No scuffing in on the track. All race must be put on and taken off the track to the right of the drivers stand. Failure to comply will result in a 1-lap penalty.

14. PIT SPACES:
Each racer is allowed 3 feet of pit space. You are allowed to use a shelf if you need to. If attendance allows, you can use more area.

15. RACE FOR FUN: We are all here to have a good time, respect others, as you wish to be treated. Maximus R/C Raceway is a family facility. Please keep that in mind.
